ETNA & AGILITY
|
Etna’s passion in life is agility. She just loves to live life in the fast lane. What, above all else, makes Etna a good dog for agility is her intensity, agility, explosivitivity and her will to work. The things I wish were even better are a bit closer turns and a quicker field of contact. But that is something we are just going to have to work on. We began competing in agility when Etna was just over two years old. During the first year we stuck to Sweden. But after that we more or less lived in Norway for a year which meant that we competed there as well. Norway is quite different from Sweden when it comes to agility. Different courses, ideal times and a lot of judges of quite a different caliber. Another country which seemed to draw us to it was Denmark and perhaps there is nothing odd about that considering we live in Skåne. We have been to competitions in Gundsölille, Ölstykke and for a full week at Jutlandia Cup. Of course, there are a number of advantages coming from competing in other countries, you get more experienced, you get to see different kinds of action, courses and competing couples. For us, the downside was that we had two points in the second level (Level II) in all of our three countries. With our third points we finally got to Level III. In the summer of 2005 Etna became jumping champion and she got certified in agility. We had competed in the World Championships for Belgian Sheepdogs twice, in 2005 and 2006. The experience was awesome! It was so cool! This season hasn’t been the best. Etna fractured one of her forelegs at the beginning of the summer which has caused a lot of rest and rehabilitation. But we got back on the field and was awarded with another certification. Since we are hoping for some little ones Etna now has a natural rest from the agility. The season 2007 has been successfull. We went to finals in the World Championship for Belgian Shepeards and Etna is also dubble Champion. She got to titles Swedish Agility(jumping) Champion and Swedish AgilityChampion. I also hope that we qualifiied to the Swedish Championshin in 2008. Etna is a lovely dog and we have travel around
